Expert systems are built using tree diagrams that describe an entire aspect
of a problem. Logic can be read by a developer and other experts that may
be assisting in development. Nodes in the tree represent questions asked of
the user. When a new node is added, other branches are automatically built
for all possible input values. Backward-chaining combines the trees into a
single system. Three modes of confidence are available to handle imprecise
data. A mouse click on a tree brings up help windows that show rules
associated with the branch. A built-in expert tests the entire system for a
wide range of common development errors. Tracing the execution of the
rules, plus How and Why commands, allow for rapid development. Applications
may be enhanced with the ExDesign custom GUI screen builder. Finished
applications may be distributed using the no-fee runtime license program.
