Adds a report-writing component to JAM, the second-generation tool for
building client/server and three-tier enterprise applications. Fully
leverages JAM's Repository, Transaction Manager, and Wizard technologies.
This enables developers to generate complex reports that incorporate
business graphics and data from multiple sources. The Report Wizard lets
users generate complex reports via point-and-click selection. Users tell
the Wizard how they want their data presented, and it immediately produces
a working report. At any point, Wizard's preview feature can be used to see
how the finished report will look with live data. Integrated with JAM's
Transaction Manager, the Wizard provides information about the database.
Users choose the tables and columns they need from a visual representation.
JAM/ReportWriter manages all fetches and joins. The Wizard adds headers,
totals, and graphics according to the user's preferences. It also saves the
report for distribution in the application. Generated reports can be
modified in the JAM/ReportWriter editor. Because the report templates and
database schemas are stored in JAM's Repository, the user can centrally
maintain these reports via inheritance, and reuse report components when
needed. Most platforms, GUIs, and relational databases are supported.
