objects of arbitrary size and complexity. Organized in a multiple
inheritance class hierarchy, objects have both data (attributes) and
associated behavior (operations). Object classes are defined interactively
using the IDB schema designer. Object operations are programmed in C. The
IDB runtime system supports polymorphism, dynamic binding, quick-fit
storage allocation, garbage collection, long and nested transactions,
versioning, and exception handling. IDB tools aid in prototyping, program
evolution, and debugging. The IDB browser provides interactive access to
IDB capabilities. Applications can run standalone or distributed, and can
be configured with or without the browser and portable display manager.
Applications are portable and data can be shared across heterogeneous
networks of all supported platforms, including Macintosh, Windows, NeXT,
Sun, IBM RS/6000, and HP. Single developer's license prices range from
$995-$4000 and include the royalty-free right to distribute a standalone
version of the database engine. IDB Introductory Package for Macintosh,
NeXT, and Windows: $99 (includes working application and tutorial).= $995 $4000 and include the royalty-free right to distribute a standalone version of the database engine
