Oracle version 6.0 is an "open" database management system that can
respond to ANSI-standard SQL and features gateways to data stored in
oter DBMSs and file systems, including IBM's DB2 and DEC's RMS. Its
distributed database capabilities allow a network of heterogeneous
computers to appear to users as a single computer. Version 6 runs on
IBM mainframes, DEC minicomputers, and any other minis, workstations,
and PCs. Can be used with Oracle utilities and is integrated with product
such as Lotus 123, MS Excel, Borland's Paradox, Apple's HyperCard, and
IBI's Focus.
